POPU5001: 2008-based principal population projections for Wales, 2008 to 2033
Knowledge and Analytical Services, Welsh Government
Added to StatsWales: October 2009
Source: Office for National Statistics
All figures are in thousands.
This table provides population projections for Wales by the following categories (the data can be found by using the interactive drill down method):
Gender: All persons, males & females,
Age-group: Children, working age and pensioners, Quinary age-groups, single year of age
Year: Mid year population for 2008 through to 2033
The Office for National Statistics produces full population projections by age and sex for the United Kingdom and constituent countries every two years. These projections are based on a review of all the underlying assumptions regarding fertility, mortality and net migration. The projections only reflect what would happen if the assumptions became true.
2008-based variant projections are produced based on different combinations of alternative assumptions of future fertility, mortality and migration. These are available on the GAD website:
http://www.gad.gov.uk
Sub-national projections for Wales are available on StatsWales and are 2006-based. The corresponding 2006-based national projections to which they are constrained are also available.
***** Age group item notes:
Children: Aged 0 to 15
Working Age: Working age and pensionable age populations based on state pension
age for given year.
