Measure $3 year average of the proportion of all births weighing under 2,500g in each deprivation quintile.<br /><br />Deprivation quintiles are calculated using the lower-layer super output areas (LSOAs) rankings from the combined income and employment domains of the Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation (WIMD) only. Only these two domains are used as they best represent \'poverty\'. The Welsh Index of Multiple deprivation ranks the 1896 LSOAs of Wales by deprivation, where rank 1 is the most deprived, and 1896 the least.<br /><br />Figures for 1999-01, 2001-03 and 2003-05 are based on WIMD 2005 rankings; 2005-07 are based on WIMD 2008 rankings.$
